One partner or three: an honest comparison

We are obviously not neutral. Here is the case against us anyway, and the two situations where three specialists genuinely beat one team.

One partner or three: an honest comparison

Where three specialists win

  • You have real scale in one channel. If you are spending £300k a month on paid search, a specialist paid agency will beat a generalist pod. Depth wins at volume.
  • You have a strong internal marketing lead. Somebody has to own the joins between suppliers. If you already have that person, three specialists is a reasonable structure.

Where one team wins

  • The joins are where your problem lives. Most conversion problems sit between the ad, the landing page and the follow-up — which is precisely where three suppliers point at each other.
  • You do not have a full-time marketing lead. Coordinating three agencies is a job. If nobody is doing it, it is being done badly.
  • AI touches everything. An agent that qualifies leads needs the site, the CRM and the campaign structure to agree. That is hard to buy in thirds.

The honest risk

The risk with one partner is concentration. If we are wrong about something, we are wrong about it everywhere, and switching costs more. Two things reduce that: everything is in your name from day one, and retainers run on ninety days' notice rather than a twelve-month lock.

That is the trade. It is a real one, and it is worth having the conversation before you sign rather than after.
